When I came across my first encaustic piece, I was lost in the medium and I knew I wanted to experience it’s magic. A lifelong love affair started as soon as I began the creative process of getting to know the wax.
My work is an expression of where I am, mirroring my inner landscape and reminding me to stay present. I use painting as a tool for letting go, creating a space to play, and honouring my intuition.
At times I feel like I have full control of the wax and at other times I follow its flow; learning to accept what is. From my experience, the painting process brings to the forefront what I need to be confronted with.
My purpose for painting is for connection. It is to touch the hearts of many while adding beauty to the everyday. It is to serve as a reminder to stop and pay attention to the small things that make us happy. Each of my pieces are created with this intention, encouraging a deeper connection to ones self.
I work in encaustic and mixed media. My artwork is crafted with materials such as pigmented wax, photos, India ink, and other delicious finds. Each piece can range from 10 to 30 layers of wax.
I am based in Toronto.
