Fortunée Shugar

Fortunée Shugar has been a dedicated and passionate artist her entire life. Originally trained at Sir George Williams University in Montreal, she returned to finish her degree in Fine Arts at the University of Ottawa. She paints in a variety of styles as exemplified by her various series, based on life experiences and inspirations from a variety of sources. Hand painted paper, torn and applied to canvas came out of a trip to Japan. The “Impressions of Impressionism” series was inspired by her tracing the paths of the Impressionists on a tour of France, including the famous Monet gardens in Giverny. And the whimsical silhouettes of children playing in fields of coloured flowers in the “Wish” series was kindled by the births of her two grandchildren. Fortunée is represented by several galleries, and her works are hanging in collections in Canada, Sweden, Israel, and the United States.
