B.C. Sargeant

Originally from the West Lake area of Prince Edward County, now living and creating in South Marysburgh, local artist B.C Sargeant (aka SIFT613) has been experimenting with colours, patterns and textures for over 10 years.

Most of Sargeant’s work uses found objects as canvas’ and free or second-hand paint and materials. Re-use and recycling of paint and materials has always been important in the creative process. A majority of the work uses spray paint, often with varied stencils and tools. Drawing, sculpting and origami round out his methods of expression. Influenced by travels around the world and 6 years living in Singapore, as well as meeting innovating minds in art and music. A great passion for graffiti and street art is evident but not obvious, a modern approach with a humble nod to the likes of Basquiat, Logan Hicks, Andy Goldsworthy, Other, Berzerker, TurfOne and many more. After a dozen years and hundreds of paintings, the public has a chance to experience this vibrant and colourful art.

B was invited to participate in the curated shows ‘County Contemporary I & II’ in the summers of 2016 and 2017 and the WinterMarket Gallery over the holiday 2016 in Picton, ON. Also in the summer of 2017, a solo showing ‘lightbulb moments’ with pieces in the Hard Luck series as well as mixed media selections at The Vic Picton.

B is thrilled to be part of the Sybil Frank Gallery.
